Karin Romans, Executive Director
Karin Romans joined the Friends team in April 2020 as Development Director shortly after the birth of her son. She took on the role of Executive Director in January 2021. Working with Friends part-time, Karin is Friends’ first staff member and is excited to lead the team to help fellow new moms. Karin has spent more than 16 years in fundraising, helping organizations carry out their important mission. She has worked a variety of fields, from women’s health to social justice to education. As a recent first-time mom to her son Liam, she is honored to help Friends carry out their mission.

Jazmin Williams, Program Coordinator
Jazmin Williams began her journey with Friends back in 2017 as part of the Nurse Family-Partnership program. As our first alumni hire, Jazmin comes to us with more than 10 years in the food industry and six years in human resources and public communications. As a client of Friends, Jazmin started her own business, Jazzy Eats which is going strong today.
As the Program Coordinator for Friends since 2021, Jazmin manages the day-to-day programs and grant giving process, overall program systems, and policy implementation. Jazmin’s addition to our team has brought a number of new partnerships to the table through her charismatic and outgoing personality. She is an amazing mother of two, an advocate for women, and a mentor for mothers, especially black mothers. Through her new work in public and health services, Jazmin has plans to take her catering business in a new direction, teaching and healing with delicious food to all mothers and families.
Alexandria Albert, Special Projects and Project Coordinator
Before working as the Special Projects and Project Coordinator Alex was Friends’ Program Associate and managed the Heart’s Desire Fund, nurse training fund, and the Learn Eat and Play program.
Prior to joining Friends, Alex was a Family Planning Health Educator for Community Healthcare Network where she provided sexual and reproductive health education on contraception, prenatal health, HIV/STI prevention and treatment, and more.
Previous to her work as a Health Educator, Alex worked in Rwanda to advance girls’ and women’s menstrual health, as well as in Thailand for an NGO working on migrant women’s health and intimate partner violence.
Alex also conducted birth equity research with NYC Health + Hospitals, matched doulas with NFP moms for the NYC Citywide Doula Initiative, and is currently studying to be a lactation counselor.
Alex earned an MPH, with a focus on maternal health, from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University.

Chelsea Chateauvert, Development & Marketing Manager
Chelsea Chateauvert started as Development Coordinator for Friends of NYC NFP in August 2021 as a consultant and joined the staff in March of 2023. She comes to Friends with more than 10 years of experience working in Development and Donor Relations.
Chelsea has worked in many different areas within the non-profit sector including education, health care, drug abuse, and racial equality. In her role with friends, Chelsea manages all aspects of Development including Donor Relations and Communications. She supports the grant writing and events teams and develops the quarterly Organization Newsletter.
Chelsea graduated from CUNY Baruch College ‘08 with a BS in Public Affairs. She is a published author, and avid baker and mother to two toddlers. She is a native New Yorker and lives in Westchester, NY.

Colleen Marcoux, Development Associate – Grants & Research
Colleen Marcoux started with Friends in 2022 as an intern and has become an invaluable member of the Friends staff. In addition to her work with friends, Colleen is the Research Project Coordinator at a New York-based nonprofit for people with HIV and other chronic conditions. Colleen graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics with specializations in Social Justice Theory and Social Entrepreneurship. She has conducted research on global health and sexual health.
Colleen is passionate about justice-based public policy and the intersection of health, education, identity, and technology.
