Why Career Readiness Matters
This program is dedicated to supporting mothers in their journey towards economic independence and personal growth. We believe by investing in career readiness, we can help moms overcome barriers and unlock their full potential. Through partnerships with corporate supporters, we offer comprehensive resources and training that empower mothers to succeed in today’s competitive workforce.
Career Readiness Workshops
Our CRW, run in partnership with Sanctuary for Families, is an 8-week, 15-session series designed to equip participants with tools for long-term success—resume writing, interview skills, financial literacy, and individualized career planning. Thanks to volunteers, our participants not only gain confidence but also see that accomplished professionals are invested in their growth and futures.
Participants receive individualized career plans, a certificate upon completion, a laptop to borrow if needed, a stipend, mock interview training, and continued education opportunities such as our financial literacy seminars on managing personal finances.

Resume & Cover Letter Review
Help moms elevate their resumes and create impactful cover letters with expert support. A well-crafted cover letter and resume form the crucial first impression for recruiters. Early professional advice and feedback can significantly enhance a new mom’s confidence while providing clearer insights into what HR professionals seek.

Interview Prep
By hosting interview prep sessions, moms gain valuable experience and shake off those initial nerves of the first interview.
Having an opportunity to practice their interview skills with potential hiring managers has significantly boosted the confidence of moms re-entering the workforce.
In our most recent CRW workshop, one mom reported the course helped her secure a new role within her current organization. But it’s more than just the learned skills. The program shows moms that they are not alone, with one reporting that, “the other moms were a great support.”
Another graduate of the program reported, “The course gave me the confidence boost to recognize all the qualifications and experience I bring to the table, and I won’t settle for less.”

Volunteering with Friends of NYC Nurse-Family Partnership’s Career Readiness Workshops has been a truly rewarding experience for me. Being able to conduct mock interviews and support first-time mothers on their journey toward building stable, family-sustaining careers made me feel like I was making a real difference in their lives. I enjoyed witnessing their growth in confidence and knowing that my involvement helped them feel supported and encouraged by professionals who genuinely care about their success.
